The Mary Hare Foundation is a charity that was set up in 1991 in order to provide funds to the Mary Hare School, which is a special school set up for deaf children and young people. The School is the only one of its kind in the UK and the biggest non-maintained special school in the country.

The Foundation wanted to raise money for the maintenance and care of their swimming pool and so came to us wanting to have a fundraising widget that could display the amount of money raised.

The design

We came up with a design that was both visual, engaging and highly relevant to both the brand and the topic. A simple design meant that the emphasis of the widget would always be on the amount raised, showing it in a clear and easy to read way.

Swimming pool widget

Animation was also included in the design. When the page first loads the water level and monetary total rise from the bottom of the pool to the currently raised amount.

Easy to use

One of the most important elements was that it should be easy to set the amount that the widget shows.

We designed a simple system where the site owner can simply edit the total raised and the widget will automatically show this on the graphic.
