Zenario is our CMS of choice for building complex websites, and it has been updated to version 7.0.6.

Here's what's in the latest version.

SEO friendly URLs

You can now show the menu structure in the URLs of your web page (hierarchical URLs). This is much better for SEO purposes and also provides clearer information to the site visitor.

For example without the menu structure showing you may have a URL that shows only the current page e.g. "example.com/london". This doesn't tell the user (or search engines) much information about the page they are on. Using the new, hierarchical URL, your web page URL would look like:

Example URL london

This now tells the user that they are under "UK" which is under "News".

Note that if the user still types "example.com/news", this will still resolve to the correct page, so they won't see a Not Found error.

Multilingual URLs

Multilingual support now extends to using different domains for each language, subdomains, and subdirectory-style language coding.

If your site is multilingual and the hierarchical URLs are enabled, the language code will appear as the first subdirectory in the URL path.

Google provides advice on this here.

For example if you had a US language website the URL would look like:

Google ChromeScreenSnapz010

...and if there were a German (de) version the visitor would see:

Example URL De London

Domains and subdomains

Each language of a Zenario site can now have:

  • the same domain
  • a language-specific sub-domain (say, en.example.com for English, or de.example.com for German)
  • a different domain (say example.com for English, or example.de for German).

Each URL will enable effective geo-targeting from search engines and also provide users with useful information on the site's content.

Improvements to images

There are several improvement to images and the image library.

Image Tags

The image tagging feature has been improved so you can add or remove tags for multiple images.

Delete multiple tags

SEO friendly images

Image URLs can be public (when on a regular web page) or private (when on an password-protected page). When public, the URL will show in an search engine friendly way, allowing it to easily be crawled and appear in an image search. This public link can also be used to link to the image internally or externally from your website.

Form CRM response log

You may remember that we recently upgraded the Zenario Forms system to allow form submissions to be integrated with a CRM, such as Salesforce.

There is now improved logging, so that you can diagnose problems in the event of forms not being received by your CRM.

User management

There is a new "Groups" panel enabling you to see the groups on your site and the users/contacts within those groups. You can also view content items protected by specific user groups.

A grid view for users and contacts is also available. Here you can see user's images along with specific details of each user.

Central list of all email recipients

As you know, Zenario can send emails out, for a variety of purposes. It may be as a result of a form submission, or as an effect of a more advanced feature. When administrators leave or go on holiday, it can be helpful to see a list of all email addresses that Zenario uses.

You can now clearly view which email addresses have been used for both forms and plugin settings rather than looking at each individual form/plugin. This is under the "Email" area of Organizer in Zenario.
